Let It Ride Rules

Let it Ride is very similar to Five Card Stud Poker. Players do not compete against each other but instead do their best to finish with a hand that includes two 10s or better. The game is quite popular and can be a lot of fun, especially when one is winning. The house advantage of Let It Ride is 3.5%. This isn’t exorbitant but it’s not as low as say, the house advantage of video poker, which can be extremely low, especially if the player is an excellent one.

When play begins in a Let It Ride game, each person must make 3 equal bets. The smallest acceptable bet will differ based on where an individual is playing. Some casinos require $5 minimum bets while others offer lower paying games. Besides the normal bets, there may also be a bonus payout that players can wager on.

Each player is dealt 3 cards which are placed face down. The dealer also gets three cards. He or she will then discard one of these cards without looking at it. After every player receives their cards, they are allowed to pick them up. Once a player has looked at their cards, they can ask the dealer for their bet back or choose to “Let it Ride.” Players who believe that they have a winning or strong hand will “Let it Ride.” Those that do no, will ask the dealer to return their bet. This saves them money and lowers their risk of losing a lot of money. The player that requests their bet back at this point will still have two bets on the table.

Next, the dealer will turn over one of his or her two remaining cards. Each player will then attempt to make the best hand that they can. They then have an opportunity to ask for their 2nd bet back or again, they can “Let it Ride.” After a player has made their decision, they will need to tuck their cards under whatever bets they still have in play. After this point, no one is allowed to touch their cards.
